Look Good To Feel Good

Sometimes You Must Dress To Impress

Now it's time to break the rules a little bit but not entirely. When we dress to impress we're no longer necessarily dressing in what makes us look good and feel good. We're now dressing not just for ourselves but for someone else. And we have a specific goal in mind. But guess what, dressing to impress will make us look good as well.

It’s been said that the way a person dresses is an indication of their personality. If you’re trying to land a job or catch the attention of a potential mate, the way you dress can have a huge impact on your success.

If you want to dress to impress it’s not difficult. There are a few rules to follow that guarantee that your appearance will be making a positive statement on your behalf.

Probably the most obvious rule when you dress to impress is to wear clean clothing that is well pressed. Nothing speaks of sloppiness more than dirty clothes or items that are full of wrinkles. Even if you are just running to the corner store to fetch milk, it’s never a good idea to wear something that came out of the laundry hamper. You never know who you will see or meet there so it’s worthwhile to take a moment to put on something presentable.

Wearing clothing that fits is important if your goal is to dress to impress. Many of the new styles showcase clothing that is baggy or ill fitted. This might be good for a teenager who frequents a skateboard park, but for a man or a woman looking to give off a great image, it’s not a good choice. Choose clothing that fits well, covers everything it needs to cover and doesn’t slide up when you sit. This is especially important for women when choosing skirts or dresses.

As a side note, this is also important for men. I'm not just talking about the wrinkles jacket and pants either. But even a nicely pressed jacket and pants will look all out of kilter when you sit in someone's chair if they are the wrong size.

Clothing isn’t the only aspect that you need to consider when you dress to impress. Your hair speaks volumes about you. If it’s unkempt or not clean, it portrays a message that you don’t have the time or the inclination to care for it. Running a brush or comb through your hair or pulling it back gives you a more polished and put together look.

Fragrance also plays a role in how you portray yourself. In order to dress to impress you should choose a fragrance that isn’t overwhelming. If you’ve ever been near someone who is wearing too much fragrance or an unpleasant scent it can be distracting. You may not notice anything else about them other than the odor. Therefore choose a light, complimentary scent.

It’s not difficult to dress to impress. It can be the difference between success and failure in many aspects of life. If you want to make the most of your assets choose to dress in a way that shows you value yourself.

It's the attitude that looks best on you anyway. When the clothes, fragrance, accessories and hair all look great, the attitude will follow. And you will be impressive. To everyone else, and to yourself.
