Casual Dresses Are Great In Those Warm Summer Months
They are so easy to get in and out of that casual dresses should be a part of every woman's wardrobe. And when did it become a rule that you have to wear shorts to stay cool? I like staying cool as much as anyone but like to look feminine as well. Casual dresses allow me to do both at a relatively low cost.
I love the summer months. We have multiple seasons and varied temperatures throughout the year in our state, but the summer is by far my favorite. The mornings usually start out cool enough for a light jacket or sweater and then the afternoon and early evenings are very warm. The temperature usually drops again in the evening. These kinds of days are perfect for wearing casual dresses. This is my favorite look for the summer months.
I wear casual dresses to work most days in the summer. They are cooler than dress pants and neater looking than capri’s. There are a large number of styles of casual dresses as well as summer skirts. I have bought several lightweight sweaters in various colors to wear with the casual dresses. This is a great way to wear a dress that might be too bare for the office. I have found short and long sleeved sweaters in open weaves that are not too warm, but do protect you from office air conditioning that is sometimes set to high.
Which brings us to another benefit of casual dresses. One simple dress can provide a variety of looks. It's simply a matter of changing the accessories. A different sweater, a different pair of shoes, a different purse or different jewelry, and that one dress quickly becomes several different looking outfits. If you're creative you could probably wear the same dress two days in a row and nobody would notice. Of course this is not recommended, but it is a possibility.
I also like the look of casual dresses because they tend to look very feminine. This is a nice change of pace in office settings where women often wear suits. Causal dresses also are great to accessorize with colorful jewelry and sandals.
I realize that women in the workplace sometimes feel the need to dress like men to show they are equal to or better than men. I personally don't feel that way. I know I'm valued in my office. Maybe your office is different. If so, then I'm sorry. Or maybe you just don't feel confident enough to wear feminine casual dresses. If so, then that's a problem you can easily solve on your own.
Casual dresses are great for weekend wear also. They are so easy to slip on with a pair of sandals and you can be out the door in minutes. Casual dresses are available in several lengths and are made out of a variety of fabric. The summer skirt is also a fun option. There are many skirts that can be worn with colored T shirts, tank tops or blouses. It is easy to slip on a dress or skirt and shirt combination over your swim suit. This is a great idea if you are at a resort and want to go from pool side into the bar.
The main thing to remember in summer dressing is to keep things simple. By having several casual dresses and skirts you can look put together and stay cool without having to spend a great deal of money, or time getting ready.
We spend so many months forced to wear pants because of the cold weather, that we should all take advantage of wearing casual dresses during the warm summer months. It is also great to take the opportunity to show your feminine side. Women do not have to dress like men in order to prove that they can perform the same job. Doing the same job and looking good while doing it adds to your value in the company.
I realize that sounds really sexist. What does looking good have to do with how well you are valued in the company? It's a good question that really doesn't have a good answer. But it's reality check time. How you look does make a difference. And even if it didn't, you'd still want to look good, because looking good also make you feel good as well.
